The police station forms a clear beacon from the provincial Staverseweg road. It is a solid fort with an expressive superstructure that underlines the station’s regional function. The white stuccowork superstructure, whose roof protrudes over the glass façade of the first floor like a sun visor, rests upon a closed substructure. A frosted glass awning that emphasizes the slanting lines of the construction has been applied within the white frame. The entrance lies on the Olympiaweg on the other side of the building. Here, the façade has been implemented in black tiles and a white stuccowork awning covers the entrance and the gateway to the inner court. The façades are connected by means of rough brickwork of re-used cobblestones. The various functions have been clearly organized around an inner courtyard within the main rectangular volume. On the inside, the robust character of the building makes way for openness.
The functions that are accessible to the public have been accommodated in the entrance block. The entrance façade is made entirely of glass and a transparent sliding gate seals off the gateway to the inner courtyard. At right angles to this block, adjoining the inner courtyard lies the nerve centre of the building: the registration room with the office of the station sergeant and the staff area. A passageway with a glass front runs alongside this area and opens to the adjoining patio, allowing a view of the surroundings via a window in the rough exterior wall. This passageway leads to the upper block, which lies parallel to the entrance section. The upper structure contains the cells, the technical installations, and the offices. The most important user areas have been situated on the first floor along the southern façade, made of glass, and offer a wide panorama out over the Staverseweg and the vicinity.
